hi, i broke my key in the ignition and dont have a spare, really dont want to spend much money on it, heard you can get a ignition barrel for around £50 - would this do the trick - how much would garage charge to install this?

any help will be reallyyyyyyy appreciated -thankss

mercedes benz w202 c class - c200 elegance - full amg bodykit - silver - p reg -

i just brought a new ignition barrel with key and was told that the imobiliser is linked with the key and wont be able to start the car unless they are together or something. how much would a mechanic charge to fit the new barrel in? can i do it myself?

I have been thinking about that.

If the key does not move in the slightest, with no movement, then the barrel, if it moves a little then the linkage possibly.

It only takes one lever in the barrel to be stuck, and the key will not turn

If you would like the instructions for removing it, I can print off, soaking is a bowl of diesel may do the trick, WD40 is not good as it dries
