Hi all,
My C240 seems to hold on to the revs far too long for my liking under hard acceleration. When it does change up, the car then surges forward with renewed vigour, but overtaking in this car is a lottery. Even if you floor the loud pedal (kick down engaged), the car winds up through the gears and as the engine nears the redline, rather than change, it holds onto the revs. The top end is as flat as witches t1t too. I put it down to the motor being a bit gutless compared to my 300 W124, and the 300-24v W124 and the E320, but surely a more modern motor in a lighter body should be as perky as the older 300 straight six, even if it is not as torquey?
Drive the car at a more leisurely pace and it shifts perfectly, very smooth, subtle shifts and on time.
I'm confused. I'm not expecting a performance car, but I am expecting "on time" shifts in the upper rev range when kicked down. It has got to the stage where I let it rev round to near red line, and then back off the throttle to make it change up, not ideal on an "automatic" box.
Suggestions?
