The Steering wheel telescopic adjuster on my W202 doesnt lock back in position, the previous owner has locked the shroud by putting some screws through it. How can this be fixed more proffesionaly?. I have looked at the assembly on the parts site and it looks like it is cable operated from the dash lever, cable seems ok, what do the two quadrant things do inside the steering columb casing, has anyone had this apart before?

Many Thanks

Ian

Took it apart today, the adjuster quadrants where not clamping the columb sliding section fully and still allowing it to move slightly. I clamped the columb adjustment damper with a stainless norma clamp in the position that I needed. It is rock solid now, I can live without the adjustment for now, I am happy to have removed the two self tapping screws through the shroud that was someone elses idea of a fix :(.
Next job removing the rust around the tailgate handle

Seems to be my luck with cars, allways seem to have the one in a hundred problems!.
I noticed that the tailgate lock doesnt turn last week too, at least that one is common!
