Hi all,

Just a quickie.
I've been looking on Euro Car Parts for a drag link.
They have 2 sorts, Lemforder at £116.15 and 'No name' at £48.88.

Is the cheap one as poor quality as the price suggests? I expect to keep
the car for another 3 years or so. Which one would you go for?

TIA
Eddie.

Get them from merc for less than that, or your not talking about a drag link, drag or drop links are about £20 from mb!!

That number will still be the same, that is a hard question, rather than time think of miles and the cheap one must be good for 60k miles or more

Hi,
I believe the drag link the O/P wants is the complete steering linkage between each front wheel.
It comes complete with both track rod ends, Lemforder is I believe MB OEM, regarding which one to buy, can,t comment on it, down to personnal preference.
To change it, you will need to break the 4 ball joint links, at both front wheels, at the Idler arm, and the steering box and undo the steering damper which is held by 2 bolts.
Lay old link arm and new link arm alongside each other and adjust new arm to the same length as your old one, as accuratly as possible, and simply replace, but it may pay you to replace the steering damper as well (about £20-£30) and get a replacement Idler arm bush/repair kit (approx £10-£15) or if you are feeling flush a new Idler arm (never replaced one only have ever used a bush/repair kit for it so not sure of the price).
Then of course get the tracking done, once fitted.
Hope this has helped.

Am getting my link changed tomorrow, got the drag link from Gsf. Will I need new bushes too? Sounds like I got to split the old ones to get the link off?

Hi my front suspension was wrecked due to all the pot holes my "Drag Link failed" both dampers were shot, (the drag link failed in style) there was no warning, the steering just went crap, with a scary wobble from the front wheels, My garage charged me £380.00 for the repair work needed, (£200.00 for the dampers and 128.00 for the drag link) they told me the drag link was difficult to replace, due to location,
