W202 - Front Indicator loss

Evening one & all!

Over the weekend I lost my n/s front indicator unit whilst motoring along quite happily. Didn't really guage the "knock/thump" as I just thought I had run over something, wasn't until I got to my destination that I noticed the missing corner!!
Have discovered that apparently this is quite a common fault with the W202 & both indicators are prone to it. How many others out there have encountered the same problem & has anyone come up with a solution to prevent it happening (other than the obvious - GLUE!!:lol

If they are anything like the 129 you have to pat them with the palm of your hand until you hear the click that locks them in

thanks for the warning i will check mine tomorrow ,are they the type that have the twin plastic lugs that hold them in to the head light unit or the wing

twin clips in headlight that you line up but also a tab that catches the wing once lined up and in place just bush in with whole hand on it and you will hear a click if not put hand inside by wing and feel for the clip that its sitting in the home or locked position

Hi Steve, I called Rob first thing Tuesday morning (after leaving a message on Sat afternoon - my first port of call); Guess what, he's out of stock (of N/Side units) & he gave me the advice that they were prone to popping out on the W202. I will admit that my n/s wing is not correctly aligned (must have been a "bad" repair at some point after an accident) and the unit wasn't sitting correctly. But I have bought one through GSF (via their eBay shop) & paid the princely some of just £12 incl P&P...
If I can't get the unit to fit correctly Steve, I will give you a call!

GSF Ebay....

Just thought I would let you know that if Three Pointed Star spares can't help you (although they are good - they can't have everything on the shelves!) may will suggest GSF Spares. They have an eBay shop & are great to deal with too.

I got my spare really very quickly & the indicator is replaced very quickly. Using the flat of your hand, firmly push the unit into place, it should do so with a loud clunk.....
