I have a recently acquired C200 which has been a joy to own but there is one small niggle that you may be able to assist with or resolve.

Whenever I raise or lower the front windows they squeak and whine like mad -it is especially bad if it is sunny. I think that it is the glass rather than the window workings.

The rear windows don't do it and it sounds awful. Anyone standing nearby always turns round to see what the terrible sound is !!

Is this a standard problem on the W202s or am I lucky enough to have this all to myself ??!!

Any advice / solutions ??

I thank you in advance.

The various "trim detailers" for rubber trim work well too and they dry on the rubber.

(e.g. Autoglym bumper care - apply/wait 5 mins/wipe off - works fr sqeaky door seals as well)

I have probably caused confusion now!

If its the vertical channels at the side, dry silicone spray (Halfords - I think its branded by 3-in-1) or liquid silicone used by plumbers in a tiny bottle from B&Q.

If its the top of door rubber seal that the window disppears into then the rubber dressing.

Don't use WD40 or similar - stinks and lasts a week.

Open the windows fully and clean the rubber channels that meet up with the glass with a damp sponge & an old toothbrush, blot out all the crap (theres always loads) with old rag & let dry Oil in the side channels can ease things too, if no better it'll be the window regulator inside the door that needs attention -so that's door card off & regreasing pulleys & cogs etc.
