Thank you for posting all those pictures.I'm now a very worried,if more knowledgeable bunny. :)

I don,t think yours will be as bad as mine, I had seriously considered not doing it and breaking it once I had seen the extent of the rust, but as I had not long fitted the 55 AMG engine i soon dismissed this.
The jacking points you can see had to be made up as these parts are part of the chassis, if the entire sill had not been so rotten he was going to cut a hole in the sill to access it to repair and then insert a plate back over the hole in the sill, this might be a method that could be used on yours.
A word of warning, the outer sill is now only available as a gen MB item, and is over £300 to buy. There was/is a modification for the jacking point to strengthen it on the 43 because of the weight of the car, he fabricated mine differently to the original strengthening it where nesacary.

That does look bad, but as a prefacelift and no side skirts to trap the water, i,d be prepared to bet (not a lot of dosh though) that its no where near as bad as what mine was underneath.

That was some nasty rust. I remember the rust on the undercarriage and floorboards on my Uncle's parts car at the time (80 240D).

An excellent job well done and finished ..the only thing that bothers me about the whole process is the car was up on a long reach tripod axle stand ..with wheels..eek.. one only in the centre.. very dangerous .. A local garage man was killed last christmas using one of those to support a transmission and the lot fell on top of him...

I've resurrected my favourite thread on here... just for those few with Jürgen Schrempp insuperable sills.

Is Andy's C55 still around?

Have you read my recent thread / post entitled Goodbye 202 ? For those who have, I’ve very reluctantly decided to part company with this otherwise fantastic car, having had over 11 years service from it.
