w202 lazy clocks in dash help pls

i have a w202 early model (1994)

i have noticed that the speedo and the fuel and temp dont come on as show what speed im doing or temp of engine or fuel level but then all of a sudden they jump to correct position and work

can any one help is it a loose conection or a dirty one some were..............:cool:

Try smacking the top of dash, if one or all of the needles pop back up you probably have the common problem of the needle sticking to the stop pins. The paint on the pins becomes tacky/sticky causing the problem.

The solution is to remove the cluster and open it, clean all the pins and needles (where the contact the pin) and fit tinny rubber sleeves over the pins, not sure if you can get them from the dealer.

I had the same problem but did it the lazy way and just scraped the paint off the pin stops and cleaned the pin, problem never came back.
