W202 Question

Hi all, can anyone tell me what sort of revs the engine should be running at when cruising at, say 70 mph? The car in question is a year 2000 C200 kompressor automatic estate.
I'm assuming it has a 5 speed gearbox but I'm not sure if it's actually changing into top gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't think a C200k existed in the 202 series ????

Well, the vin number is WDB202 etc. and the V5 has it as a C200 sport komp auto.

200k Estate model was available 5/2000-1/2001. Other kompressors were 230k,

I have a c180 sport with the 5 speed auto and my rpm at 70mph is approx 3000rpm.

Have you tried the manual selection of the gears whilst driving..flick the lever across to M and it should change down a gear, before changing up again, you will see the rev counter rise and fall..also the selection indicator in the speedo will let you know which gear you are in.

No Tiptronic box unfortunately but I think Jason's post has given me the answer as the rev counter shows the same as his c180 at 70 mph. Many thanks for all the replies.
