w202 squeaky steering

My C250D has just started squeaking really badly when turning the steering wheel

Thought it might be inside the car at first but it sounds like its coming from the drivers side wheel

It sounds like a rubber type squeak if you know what I mean

any ideas?

Hi,
I get a squeak on the steering of my W124 estate and did on my 500E before that. It was the ball joint - I squirt some WD40 into it (by sticking the thin red tube that comes with WD40 into the rubber cover and squirt) and this solves it for quite some time.
Not sure whether this is your problem but sounds similar - someone may have a better fix too.

if that doesnt help open the front windows and ask a passenger to tell you where they hear the sound coming from or ask someone outside to do the same assuming it squeaks when parked and turning the steering wheel
