Hello again Gents,
The temperature gauge in my car is not functioning correctly, it does not rise slowly to ambient temperature it remains on 40c for some time, and then suddenly registers the correct reading approx 90c. My questions are:- Is this merely a sensor acting up?. Has anyone else experienced this problem?. And would anyone be able to advise on a repair/replacement, or other avenues of investigation.

Thanks in advance.

if you tap the glass on your instrument panel does the needle jump to the correct place, they are known to stick...

Pull the wire connector of the transmitter on the top of the block at the front, 3 pin from memory and see it the gauge behaves differently. also as anyweb, just turn on the ignition and tap the gauge and see what happens

W202 temperature sensor

Just a quick update regarding the problem I had, Anyweb was correct a slight rap on the instrument cluster did the job. Many thanks Torquewrench.;)

Hi, my 300D W124 does just the same thing, temp gauge twitches like a cricket but the actual temp is fine. Tap the dashboard and it drops back to 80 every time. Is there a fix for this?
