Hello to all.

Firstly sorry if this is a regularly covered subject or if there's a sticky i should have found by now. I have had a good look round and i cant find a similar post.

Recently i convinced the missus that her 1.2 corsa skateboard was going and she needed a more sensible car.

she really liked the pan roofed C class coupe. C220CDi we bought last week.

As i work in Holland and only come home evey couple of weeks. the new car has been top subject in our daily calls. Just for all the wrong reasons.

From what i can understand of her description, when she wants to get on and go, for instance to go past something on the motorway or to get on a bit. When she is climbing up the hill on the M65 towards Blackburn, and today when she was just wanting to get back from southport.

She says the car wont go past 60 and thats it. We did of course go through the speed limiter and we are quite sure after she has read the owners book that its definately not that. Yesterdays top speed up the Blackburn hill was 40.

Today she took the car back to the dealership (non MB) and he's going to take a look next week when we are away (convenient coincidence)

Is there anything thats "known" about this. At the moment i have nightmare thoughts of torque convertor, gearbox, electronics and also simple stuff like fuel filters and leaky pressure pipes going round my head.

Any information and light shed would be very gratefully recieved.

oh and

P.S. Hello i'm new to the MBO forum...

It could be due to a number of reasons, it sounds like the CAT is blocked causing back pressure, you didnt say anything about and noise or misfiring, thats the reason i say CAT, until you get it put on to the star machine you will just be guessing!

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, i know it needs to go on a computer and we need to see if there are any error codes.

general pootling seems fine. and it seemd fine to me when i drove it on the test drive.

i asked about unusual noises etc. but nothing particualrly awry.

i fly home monday evening so i'll know better for myself then

its when you need real power, i.e. pulling up the motorway hill and wanting to maintain 80(ish)

we'll see what comes.
cheers

Had a similar problem with mine last year, Star said low turbo pressure so new turbo fitted no different.

Don't let them fit a turbo until you've had the cats checked

Fault was primary Cat had broken up & blocked secondary one, cost of secondary £250ish non genuine, primary £700.

Solution get the primary cat cut open, stripped & rewelded. renew secondary.

Should be Ok for MOT as only smoke tested.

Split turbo hose gives those kind of symptoms, and is quite common.
