W203 Boot pop up problem ????

Hi all, when the boot release button is pressed on the keyfob shoud the boot fully open or just pop up an inch or so... if it suppose to fully open does anyone know the cure for mine that pops up but only a little bit ( couple of centimetres?? ).

Mine did that until I oiled the hinges (3in1). Now it opens fully on pressing the key fob button.

Do you have a spoiler?

If you do the extra weight can cause it not to pop up.

No i dont have the spoiler on mine... hoping its just oil hinges and nothing more like springs or something

There are foam peices inside the arm that connects to the boot lid. Spray some WD on them.

Also check that the springs are set in the last hole and not in the first hole which is the softer setting!!!

Try the advice from the other guys first, if you dont get any joy, then I have solved a few of these buy using 2 heavy duty cable ties on each spring and clamp up a couple of the coils, thus shortening the spring and solving the problem.

Only do a couple of coils as to much tension can break things.

This is not a official method but one I have used several times with no problems.

Welcome to the forum,,my boot has gas struts and one failed while in Sweden, at only £25 from MB it was good value and my head is getting better
