I replaced my pads (and sensor) and all was well for a couple of months but then out of the blue the warning light came on.

I thought it was due to a dodgy sensor (as the pads are new) so today I replaced the sensor - BUT no joy the warning light came straight back on.

So my question is: - the car is a 52 plate C200k - does it have rear sensors Or just one sensor on the front drivers wheel. If it is just a drivers front wheel sensor then what else could be causing the warning light to stay on?

On a totally seperate issue - I am going to do a DIY job on the alloys as they are really suffering from corrosion (the usual MB problem) - I know powder coating is the only way but I dont want to spend a lot of money. Does anyone know of a good guide to refurbing alloys? Also what is the best paint colour to use and is there a paint code for the MB wheels? (the car is brilliant silver)

Thanks

Thanks for this.

So it looks like my car has only one sensor on the drivers wheel - so why is the brake pad wear warning message still on the dash when I have replaced the pads and the sensor (twice!)? Will strip down and check for a dodgy connection at the weekend.

This system works on a open circuit. can you bridge the socket on the chassis to see if the light goes out,,if there is a socket on the other side,, then try shorting out the 2 wires in the socket

New sensor should cancel it.

Thanks Blobcat. I bought a new sensor and even tested it on a voltmeter for continuity and I got a positive result. But funny as it is, my TOPDON Carpal scanner did not indicate "Brake Wear" trouble.

The messages from the Scanner are:

P2310 - Event code - One or more messages from control unit N47(Traction systems control module are not available on the CAN bus.
9101 - Event code - Fault in CAN communication with control unit N47-5 (ESP,SPS [PML] and BAS control unit)
P1876 - Event code - The signals sent by control unit N47-5 (ESP and BAS control module) for the wheel speeds and the braking torque are not available on the CAN bus.
P2012 - Event code - The brake signal from control unit N47-5 (ESP and BAS control module) is not available on the CAN bus.

Am a novice on Mercedes. I am only able to change pads, disc on all wheels with my little knowledge from my past cars. Any suggestion or advice on these messages will be most valuable. Best regards.

Wheel speed sensors failing and rusty reluctor rings are pretty common.
Can you reader show live wheel speed readings?

Thank you so much for your suggestion. Ave ordered another scanner TopScan to see if any of my wheels is giving low or no reading. I do appreciate your response.

Not sure about the C class, but I believe that on some vehicles the brake switch linked to the brake pedal can cause these faults as it carries the CAN bus signal as well as detecting movement of the pedal.

This is to say a big thank you to you. I have resolved the problem by simply changing the ESP and BAS module. All trouble codes cleared, Limp mode was also cancelled, Brake Wear indicator also disappeared. Thanks all.
