W203 C180 Kom Super charger bearing noisey

Hi
After I had my car service at Halfords autocentre, Nottingham. I was told that the 'super charger bearing is noisey'.

They estimate the replacement including labour to be £1878.82.
I also got a provisional quote from the dealer at £2016.3 + Diagnosis fee

Is this something I should be concern?
Is it possible repair rather than replace the charger?

C-Class 180 Kompressor yr 2003 W203
Car is at 50,000 miles. Have been service regularly
Personally, I do not hear any strange noise from the engine at 3000-3500 rpm.

I am looking for any advice please....

I've got a 230K and I,ve been told by a main dealer AND an Indie, that the compressors are always noisey and that I shouldn't worry about it.

I am not genned up on them either, but noticed none of the specialists have came back on this subject, maybe a too expensive fix?

If you can't hear a noise why would you want to believe Halfords? I am sure they could go wrong at some point but I have never seen one fail. There is not much that can go wrong with them they are basically a vane with a bearing at each end.
