W203 C180 SRS Lamp

W203 2001 C180 Classic Auto 2.0

I've got a red SRS warning lamp on the dash and I'm suspecting the SRS system has gone belly up - do I have to take it to a dealer or is there another way of diagnosing/rectifying this problem - which I imagine is quite common :-(

Notice how I've changed from the car being my wife's car to MY car - that's only because I drove it last week and found a load of problems which my wife tends to ignore hoping they'll go away :roll: Ownership will pass back immediately following the resolution of the problems :roll:

A diagnostic test is required really, only way to know wots wrong. there a a few known faults but it would be guessing as it could be anything!!

Thanks folks - looks like a trip to the Merc dealership (as I suspected), but it's always nice to have confirmation from those who know better - that's just about everyone I think :Oops:
