W203 C270 Audio questions

Hi everyone,

I have a 2004 C270 CDI Avantguarde SE Facelift which has a blown rear left speaker in the parcel shelf. Ive been told by an independant audio shop that its a fairly standard subwoofer, and to just replace it with something they recommend. Im a bit worried that the sound will be out of balance, as the existing sub will be different. I'm not that experienced with audio equipment, espeically that in a Merc!

I found what i assume is the correct speaker on ebay - could anyone verify for me?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....87&ih=005&category=10398&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1

And my final question is, there appear to be some kind of access holes from the boot area, yet they're clearly too small for a speaker! Are they just for the connectors? If so - how do you get the speakers out?? Do you need to remove the whole rear seat? (its not a split seat).

Sorry about all the questions. Thanks in advance!

That Ebay one is not so cheap with postage, and they have a hard life due to condensation.

Welcome to the forum,,if no one else comes on to tell you how to change it,I can look it up for you later.

You do need the exact one as the are very low ohms

Yes, are there any how to documents etc available? I also wondered what the small access hatches were in the boot?

The rear cover lifts of the shelf, unclip the front lug, push the shelf down at the front and wiggle it out, tricky but works, thats how we used to in the old days get the keys out the boot when locked in there!

And that looks like the correct speaker!

I did not get a chance to explain,,,It takes me so long to find money in my pockets the ice cream would have melted, and the flake would have fallen out, but with ½ a flake that would not happen,

Phew,got out of that one:p

Thanks guys. Will this process work even though I have fixed rear seats, not the type that'll move?

I actually locked my keys in the boot whilst at my girlfriends repairing a puncture on her car... Luckily I got the tools outta the boot before it locked, so changed the wheel and then took her car home to collect my spare keys!! PHEW!
