hi, can someone please send me instructions as to how to remove a CLC door card to replace the speaker grill which has been broken by the seat belt fitting. I can see this is a common problem for CLC’s and I would appreciate some help. My em is nikki2512@hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks Nikki

Can't help specifically as it's often a work through seeing where it's still held, and not using force.
But having some replacement green push tuds handy.

If like many others though be wary of the tweeter wiring. The tweeter can be held in the door card and need unplugging from the main speaker as it is removed, otherwise it'll just break at the tweeter.

Martin, thanks. Found some videos on line that appear to walk you through the door card removal. Yet to put to test and no coverage regarding replacing the speaker grill.

I remember doing mine a few years ago, cant find the instructions Television (RIP) sent me. I do remember that the new grills had post's that pushed through corresponding holes in the door card and you melted the end of the post's with a soldering iron to hold the grill in place.
The whole job was quiet easy IIRC.

The file I posted was from Televisions library. Probably the one he sent out.

Thanks, I have got to a printer now and the diagram is really helpful in advance of removing the correct card.

Thanks Nikki

I've has my door cards off recently to fit new speakers. One thing I'd recommend is to buy some trim clips just in case any should break and some plastic trim tools.

Anthony, thanks for the advise. I already have plastic trim tools which were vital so as not to damage the fittings. Replaced speaker grill using a soldering iron to melt new speaker stems in place. All good so far.

Out of interest have you upgraded to a dab radio since this is on my wish list for my CLC.

Thanks Nikki

I upgraded to an Erisin android unit with DAB+. I do need to sort out the aerial though as the supplied window one is a bit rubbish at times.

Hi both, I'm new....first post and first mercedes (CLC 200).

@Nikki2512 - what sizes are the speakers? Understand there is a co-axle, mid and tweeter. Just want to upgrade the mid and co-axle. Also did you need to buy any adaptors? Do they need to be drilled out?

@AnthonyUK - i was looking at an erisin android one, I've manage to remove all the trim to do so. However, looking at pictures of the erisin cables...how do you connect it to maintain the steering remote control? Also...my oem stereo cables has fiber optics cables and on the erisin there isn't a socket for that. Can you help? My radio signal is also very bad...the aerial is at back of the boot trim...would I just need to replace it? Looks all in tacked to me.

Side note....anyone know the part number for the silver trim around the gear gaitor for an auto...I broken a clip and now it doesn't clip on properly. Rather replace than glue. Thanks in advance.

Sorry. I can't help regarding fibre optic if to an amp but the general consensus is that it is not possible if one of the two types and and not great if the other.
The easy option is to replace the amp or bypass it, replace the speakers and cable them directly.
The steering controls along with lighting, reverse signal etc come over CANBUS which is built in to the Erisin I have. Some have an external decoder.

@AnthonyUK thanks. I've searched the car and can't find an amp or cd change. So I'm not sure if it's for either of those. I spoke to a few car audio installers and they said they would be just left redundant.

Is this what you have?

Link

They claim it's plug and play? Was it that easy and the steering controls work. This has the canbus decoder built in.

Ideally you want a 8 core CPU, 4GB RAM AND 32GB storage. These are usually android 8.0. E.g. www.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F273470257036

Using the supplied cables it was plug and play and the steering wheel controls just work. No track/station info is sent to the dash display though.
