Hi all,
My first post and was wondering about new pads and discs for my C180K with sports pack

I have bought new pads and discs for my car ,do i have to degrease the discs or something as they look pretty dry with no signs of any protective coating on them any info would be appreciated .

Hello Davie, and welcome to the MB forum.

Some new disc come with a clear coat, that will wipe off with petrol or white spirit. They are normally coated with something as they are cast iron, and that can rust in damp air. Its worth being sure as if they are lacquered it will clog the pads and cause excessive heat and a danger of putting them out of true.

You could also lightly sand with a medium to fine paper to check

Be sure to clean off the rust/surface oxidation from the hub flange before you mate the new disk to it, not being clean may cause the disk to run out of true.
I find that a green pan scrub and lots of hot soapy water works well to clean the new disk before installation.

If its no cheeky, how much were your parts and where from?
Mine`ll need done for next MOT.... at only 60K
