Tony Purslow diagnosed a broken spring on the front of my W203 while they were MOT'ing it. The car has done 125,000 miles. Is this a common fault, or am I just really lucky? They replaced both front springs to get it through the MOT.

They also mentioned a couple of bushes on both sides at the front are going to need replacing when it goes for service, shortly. Is this just normal wear and tear? Can I expect the same issues at the rear?

Hi Clive, yes with the roads in the state that many are spring do go these days and quite common on the 203, quite a few threads here on the subject.

Some of the links and bushes will wear, its a fair mileage that you car has done, when they are replaced you should get a clear run

The bushes will probably be front caster/thrust arm bushes. It is more common for the rear springs to break, so they have probably been replaced previously, ask them to doudle check next service.

Many thanks for the positive responses, folks.
I'm annoyed with myself for not investigating what looked like a slight lean on certain surfaces.
All sorted now.
