W203 Rear Exhaust Back box & Pipe

Hi Guys

Jusy clocked 100k in my w203 C200K 2001. I took for MOT and passed fine apart from a broken front spring. I went underneath the car and noticed something.

The rear exhaust box has a pipe that goes to the cat. Well the hangar on the pipe has corroded. The exhaust is still in place but I am concerned as the weight is now on the other hangars. I was quoted £400 from mercs for the rear box. I have tried a few indepandants and they all say the same. The W203 rear box is a main dealer part only.

Has anyone bought a W203 rear box? If so where and how much.

If the box is sound and it probably is, why not get a new hanger welded on,,many have done that, and would not cost much to do, or even fabricate one from an exhaust clamp

Just as a matter of interest, don't stainless steel exhausts have a lifetime guarantee? Mine has a small blow in the centre box and I was wondering if MB would repair/replace for free? ha ha

No they are not, just a good quality steel that should last longer than the rest of the car

I recently had a similar problem (E220cdi), I went on the bosal site and found it listed there with diagram. Got the part number and went to southern exhaust supplies who had it in stock for £65. Though the quality of the steel may not be as good I figure I can buy 5 for the price of one from MB.

The exhaust on a 112 V6 cost £1500 plus fitting, and that is silly money,
