Hi All.

I’m a newbie to Mercedes and have just acquired w203 3.2 year 2000 with the dreaded parasitic battery leak. It has a new battery.

The seat modules are disconnected (three wire sockets) but the battery still went flat.

I have just reconnected the recharged battery and there are a number of components that are not working. All the fuses are good.

The fuel gauge shows empty but I know the tank is almost full.

The indicators are not working. Hazard warning button not working.

Windscreen wipers not working.

Windscreen washers not working. Although the headlamp washers are.

The boot can only be opened with the key. Central locking with key fob or internal switch does nothing and the boot unlock button also does nothing.

Central locking with the key fobs only works when the key is about an inch from the driver’s door receiver. It works with the internal switch. New batteries in the fobs.

No boot light.

The rear number plate lights seem to have a mind of their own. They come and go with no discernible pattern.

Having trawled the forum I’m thinking that the problem is with the rear SAM as most of the above seem to touch it but before I start pulling everything apart I would appreciate any thoughts from those who have been there before.

If anybody has some thoughts about the above I’d love to hear them.

Well i think you may be right but see what others say. The 203 is famous for problems when disconnecting/reconnecting the battery unless a certain procedure is followed.
