After investigating a knocking noise from the near side rear when driving over rougher road surfaces (appears to come from just under the rear seats - close to wheel arch) of my 2002 c- class estate, I think I need to replace the sub frame mount. All the other bushes appear to be in good condition.

Am I correct in saying there are four mounts? Grateful for advice on the changing procedure. Is it possible to raise the car giving enough clearance and then support the weight of the axle etc?

Thanks

id check the rear springs first. dads 203 saloon had a knock when mounting/dismounting kerbs, going over harsh speed ramps etc (the nearest he got to a rough road at the time) and it turned out that he had a broken rear spring!

Thanks for both of these. I had a good look at the springs and everything else - even taking of some parts to inspect the bushes. They all look OK.

Would be grateful for instructions for the mounts if you have them.

Thanks

Malcolm

Would be grateful for instructions if you have them - would like to try to take advantage of the holiday weekend and do the job on Friday.

Thanks
