Hi,
Firstly, Happy New Year to all members.

Can any members out there please advise what might be the cause of the following:- When driving my 2000 C class from cold, I have an annoying squeak coming from the rear everytime I go over a hump or small pot hole in the road. It usually goes after several miles, but seems to be there all the time in this cold snap

203 rear springs are very common,

these can make a creaking squeaking noise, whip your wheels off and have a look inside see if they are snapped at the very bottom,

poor design fault really,

seen these go at less than 15,000 miles. does not impress the customers.
replacing these at an alarming rate lately.

I see that they can be made of taper steel or some other, I do not know what the difference is

My W210 does this in warm weather. Lifting the strut boot and spraying some lube up there sorts it our for a few months.

Must be the state of our roads to many pot holes lately and the speed humps doesn't help.

I have the same problem with my rear suspecion, although mine doesn't squek, it more like a thumping noise and the car sway from left to right(slghtly) at the rear when going over pot holes. any ideas?? or should i replace the rear shocks. almost forgot, it only affect the left rear suspesion and i don't feel it at the steering and no problem corneering at high speed but it is driving me nuts!

They shocks would make the car bounce more than normal, I would check the sub frame mount rubbers

Thanks television, i will check it at this weekend

If you can get a bar between the chassis and the sub frame and lever the sub frame, it should tell you if something is loose or worn

Thanks television, silicon sprayed all bushes at rear and it has stopped the squeak. Now I have a noise in the boot that seems to come from the off side, it sounds like twang of a spring. Checked boot lid raising springs and noted that they have had foam rubber pushed inside. It does appear that these springs would be the size to generate the noise but very difficult to tell? It also sounds like the exhaust is knocking against something when going over humps. Checked underneath while spraying bushes but all seems fine, with all mountings in place and not broken. Nothing appears to be loose.
Any ideas??
