Changed the anti roll bar bush's yesterday and the upper suspension arms and noticed that with the track rod ends from the steering rack where the ball joint connects to the hub I could move them quite freely, to me this means they's have better days yeah?

Also if I do change I take it mark where the others were on the threared area and tighten up to that mark not to upset the steering to much yeah?

Thanks in advance:)

If you mean you can twist them, thats perfectly okay, but if they have lift in them when the steering is rocked thats another matter.
Marking the threads will be fine to get you to a garage to get the tracking reset.

As LYNALL with these ends if you just slacken the lock nut a ½ turn, put the new ones on and do up the lock nut, and if you replace with MB joints they will be as near as dam it right.

Though as you say you do not need them if the is no free play

My only worry is I've changed anti roll bar bush, drop links, upper suspension arm and still get a slight clunk/click when braking from the front left?

Any ideas as Im only left with lower arm and track rod end.

I would check the swivel joint on the bottom,,use an iron bar to lift it up,, that the best way to tell

Swivel joint? Is that the lower suspension arm? If not do you have a pic?

Thanks Malcolm

Will try that as I've changed 90, so 140 is the other suspension arm ain't it. Take it best change in pairs if knackered.

Thx

While you are at it yes in a way though the nearside take more of a hammering than the off side , though on my SL the off side is worse

Will try that, so far this is turning out to be an expensive excercise lol Guess once its done its good for a few years.

Would the car need tracking once done as that arm takes the most brunt doesn't from the road etc.

Thx for the advice so far big help:)

No need to track,, and there may be nothing wrong with that joint

Item 140 is the alloy arms i had to change these on wifes car as they were totally shot.
Look at the rubber bush and if you can see any crack even hairline its had it.
Pic is of offending arm when fitted to car theses cracks were miniscule.
