Hi all, ive had a quick search in the forums, but am still confused...

1.) Does the COMAND unit in the '09 C Class have its map data on a hard-drive? I don't have the separate COMAND Manual supplement for the unit (if there is one, i think my car came with the wrong manual second-hand..?) -Does anyone know where i can get a PDF one?

2.) Can the software on the COMAND unit be updated? ie. The firmware, and the maps/POI data? As mine seems rather out of date. If so, how?

3.) Does updating the firmware help with Bluetooth compatibility? Mine will only provide a basic 'hands-free' facility with my Samsung S2. Previously my old Vauxhall Astra could even give full phonebook access through the bluetooth, and that was three years older... I can't believe that the newer C Class doesnt...

Any input/help always appreciated.

Thanks!

It should be near enough the same, an updated map will give the later roads etc but will do nothing to improve things like post codes.

The up dates were on offer 2 months back for £100

I have a 2008 C220 S204 and updated my Comand about a year ago using genuine MB discs that had been previously used. OK, there are disagreements about re-using discs etc, but on pre-facelift 204's it works! I posted on here about how I did the update and how long it took - basically ignition on full time to stop Comand shutting down, so I started the engine, connected a battery charger, then turned the engine off leaving ignition on - hence no voltage spike. Then empty DVD changer, insert disc 1 and wait - after about 1 3/4 hours it asks for disc 2, which takes another 3/4 hour. You still do not have 7 digit postcode, but at least the maps are more up to date!

I'll keep an eye out for the discs then. I just updated the Nav in our W220 and that went smoothly, and was faster than i expected! Shame nothing can be done for the bluetooth phone connectivity because it's awful!

I have the pre-wired phone installation in the centre armrest and the correct cradle for my Nokia 6300 - and the hands free is brilliant!

Ive got a Samsung S4, and it won't stay connected to the Bluetooth, or allow access to the phonebook. It also looses connectivity when the phone locks itself. I had it in my '07 Astra and it was fully functional. Just seems odd that if GM can do it, Mercedes can't. Phone cradles are so old fashioned, and i dont think MB do a cradle that would fit my phone, that and i would be forever forgetting to put it in, take it out... ahh well. Maybe i can get one of those Bluetooth Pucks that we have in our W220... with that my phone works fine and has full phonebook/text access, and doesnt disconnect when it feels like it!
