Hello

Car: 2008 C200 CDI 190,000 miles

There is a 'wobble' noise and vibration at 40-50mph that seems to stop when you put the car into neutral.

Is it possible that this is a worn propshaft guibo/donut ?

Advice gratefully received

Thanks

You wont know till it on a 4 post lift .
Then inspect the propshaft rubber couplings if its a rear wheel drive that is and also the centre bearing you might have two couplings one front one rear .Your looking for splits in the rubber and damage .And if it is the couplings then get them sorter asap or see picture . 300SDL_rear_tran01.jpg

You need to inspect the propshaft coiuplings for wear , along with centre bearing. Most new Mercedes withthe larger type engine the silencer will need removing to get at the guibo rubber couplings .Good luck .

I would look at the rubber mounts of the engine and gearbox rather than the prop. Terribly common failures that cause vibrations, wobbles and droaning noises.
