Hi all,

My 2010 W204 C250 CDI AMG is showing service B5 is due in 30 days.

In March 2017 the vehicle had the following service items replaced:

Air filter
Fuel filter
Engine oil
Oil filter
Brake fluid
Brake pads front
Brake pads rear
Dust filter
Battery for keyless go

Around March 2018 I replaced the oil, oil filter and pollen filter and reset the service light myself.

Now it is March 2019 - what service items should I do on this vehicle?

I am thinking fuel filter, brake fluid, oil and oil filter? Please advise as I am not sure at all.

Cheers,

Gav

Air and fuel filters are 4 yearly or mileage dependant, not sure on the mileage. Brake fluid is 2 yearly. That's according to the MB ESS http://lite.servicemercedes.co.uk/ess/pc/, not sure if your engine is BE or not so can't delve further into the ESS.

Thanks for the reply. I have done 20,000 miles since the major service in March 2017. What does BE stand for? Thanks.

Blue Efficiency, a range of engines that came out on the 204 about the time of the facelift, much lower CO2 than my 08 car so much lower RF tax. Facelift time is IIRC MY2011 so your 2010 car may or may not be BE, the engine number will tell you and the ESS drop down list for 204 saloons also goes on which engine you have fitted. I have an idea that BE engined cars also can have BE/BlueEfficiency badges on the bodywork.

Yes mine is the BlueEfficiency edition. I'm still unsure of which items need to be replaced under a B5 service as the link does not list them....unless I am missing something? Thanks.

At 20k miles and 2 years I suspect not - I know on mine the interval is 4 years but can't remember the mileage issue, but as we only do 8-9k miles pa that question does not arise! However, if it's not a big cost item you might want to do them as belt and braces, I know there are members on here that do oil/filter every 6 months irrespective!

You have not mentioned ATF/filter change, which IIRC should have been done at 37.5k miles and then, according to MB, is OK for life - but members on here will disagree! Beware the partial ATF change which is gearbox only and does not include the torque convertor, it's worth doing both rather than just the +/-4L easy gearbox change. I've just had mine done, respected local indie reckoned it needed doing at 100k miles on my 5 speed gearbox.

Thanks again for your help. The oil change in the auto transmission was completed by Mercedes Benz in 2017 too. They spent £1k on servicing the vehicle so the invoice is jam packed with items. I am not sure if the invoice includes the torque convertor. Is this a part replacement of the torque convertor or oil change in the torque convertor? I will upload the invoice so maybe you can spot something? Thanks.

3rd page gear oil looks like 9L, which would I think be gearbox and torque converter. Not 100% sure on a 204, or if your 2010 is 5 speed or 7 speed box, but I remember that on my 203 5 speed just changing the gearbox was about 4L and also doing the TC increased that to 7L.

The reason the car is asking for this, is that assyst was not reset with the correct service items. As you can now see, its asking for things that have already been done.

2 options, ignore them, and say they have been done, but they will then be overdue in 4 years when the car asks again (not a huge problem if you are keeping the car). Otherwise, do the work that the B5 is asking for, and reset the assyst computer correctly to get it back on track.

As others, check the Service sheets linked to see what its due now.

After 20k for the sake of 35 quid I would change the air filter too.

Fuel filter can wait til 30 or 40k.

Seems strange that a Mercedes Benz dealer workshop would not reset the service code properly. Saying that the last main dealer I went to left the underneath of my car hanging off after changing a shock absorber! I will probably do the oil, oil filter and air filter. If I can get a food price on OEM fuel filter I ill do that too. One big thing I haven't asked about; timing chain. Will this need doing with the tensioner soon too? Thanks.
