Hi

W204 C220 with 13pin connection and Avondale Avocet caravan and vehicle specific wiring kit (manufactured by "Right Connections")

Panic!!!!! Just about to go away in the caravan today (SUnday) and checking the connections last night and the side lights and indicators were working OK on both the Caravan and car. Then all the off side lights failed ( side and indicators )

Checked the "pin out" from the 13pin connector with a multimeter and near side lights and indicator powered OK but off side nothing so definitely in the car but indicators and side lights are on different leads ( pin 5 brown and pin 4 green).

Checked all the relevant fuses and connections but not sure where to go next. Suspected the "Right Connections LED CFC Trailer Module" but not sure if that actually connects or just monitors the lights?

Any help really gratefully received as we should be off in 3 hours ( caravan loaded and OH not a happy bunny !!@*%%$ )

Cheers

Jim

Sorry but it sounds complicated . Car electrics are a problem on their own . You can get a tester from the caravan spares shop , plug it in the car socket it should tell you the problems .Might be a relay a fuse who knows . Auto electrics is the guy to ask to check it out .To day Sunday thats a no go .But you could try a call out from one of them you never know .Have you a caravan sales shop local,, then pop over, they wont refuse to check your car tow conections . We had customers pop in from time to time where i worked to check them out for them. Had this done it , caravaner for 30 years. Gave it up now its to much hastle Good luck hope you get it sorted out .

Hi there

Sorted thanks - after over 2 hours hunting!!! turns out it was a15m mini fuse in a fuse holder in line with a harness BEHIND the fuse and relay mounting in the boot.

The "Right Connections" trailer module has a slightly weird configuration in that the module is powered from one fuse in the plug in module BUT half of the circuit board is powered from one lead and half from another - both connected to the back of the same fuse and both of the leads going through a twin in-line mini spade fuse-holder with the actual fuse holder BEHIND THE MAIN fuse board !!@+*&%$£!£^!

One of the 15amp mini fuses had blown for no known reason ( age?) but when replaced all is now OK and after 90 odd miles towing is still ok :)

My Brother and I are now experts in "Right Connections" trailer modules :)

Cheers

Jim

Yes, thanks

We got away about 4 hours late - luckily it was only a 2.5 hour trip and it was a really great few days, for once the weather was good and the site was great ( Really Recommend "Hucks Barn CL Ludlow").

Never been to Ludlow before - such a really nice old town.

Out of interest got 30mpg overall, towing my Avondale Avocet caravan (1350km) on mixed roads ( Motorway, trunk, "A" and "B" roads)

Cheers

Nice van the Avocet , We sold a few of those in the past from Chichester Caravans Stourport .If you do change it in years to come , dont buy a Swft , they are not swift for spare parts . In that i mean very slow .Thats if you can get a part from them Or shop closed in Stourport along with the sales , service and also the repair shop .All moved to Bromsgrove close to Webbs garden centre . Happy days hi de hi.
