Really daft question, but what exactly is the difference between the C and S auto transmission driving modes on the W204?

M mode is easy as it allows me to use the padals behind steering wheel, but I am yet to work at the difference of the other 2. :confused:

...........which in turn will give you better fuel consumption.......
I always drive in C mode in my W203. I prefer the feel.

Then I believe it will kick down into 1st at full throttle

It will revert to sport mode at just over half throttle.....however, to do this is rather childish at not at all in keeping with the Mercedes image. I prefer to belong to the "I could have had him if I wanted too, but I couldnt be bothered" school of thought.
I bask in the knowledge that I am driving the superior machine.

S = Sport Mode
C = Comfort mode.

Sport mode raises the rev range at which up changes occur.

Or,
S= Standard Mode. :rolleyes:
C = Comfort Mode.

Comfort mode reduces the revs at which up shifts occur. The car will also move off in second gear and reverse using a higher gear

...........which in turn will give you better fuel consumption.......
I always drive in C mode in my W203. I prefer the feel.

I always drive in Standard mode, never found any difference in fuel consumption.
Comfort mode is good when transporting my mother about :roll: or when the surfaces are slippery......
