Hi all

I’m a first time Mercedes owner so slowly trying to learn a little more about them.

Recently picked up a 2008 C180 and would love to do some styling mods over time.

Not interested in performance mods with it only being a 1.8 petrol automatic but would like to make it look nicer

What are some popular mods on these?

Popular mods at the moment seem to be de-chroming trim, black wheels and changing the front grill.
Wheel upgrades s are always popular, but it looks like you have a decent size for comfort. Wider wheels will increase road noise and reduce fuel economy. Larger diameter mean lower profile and less comfort plus an increase in likelihood of wheel/tyre damage on UK roads.

Thanks for the response!

What are some popular grille options on this model?

Wheel upgrade is definitely one I want to consider. The current wheels are definitely good for comfort but looks-wise could be better in my opinion. Will have to explore some wheel options, especially if there’s some good Merc wheels from another model that would suit this body type

Think that's already a non-standard grill, from a later model, as mine does not have the large 3 pointed star in the middle, just the gunsight on the bonnet. What size are your current wheels? Standard would be 16's, 17's were an option. If that's Elegance trim on 16's those are not the standard wheels, which had a multitude of spokes and were a PITA to clean (mine came on them!!). I changed to 17"6 x twin spoke AMG rims which were an option on the pre-facelift 204, that improved the feel and handling without noticably compromising ride quality. However, I personally would not go any larger as the effect on ride quality would be bad, especially 19's.

Looks like a "Sport" Grill, same as the one mine had

I did the black wheels for a while then went back to original-ish colour .The powder coating of it now isn't clever it's flaking binning the chrome I think is a good move, I have a sportcoupe & fancied the Mattig Grille
I would go for factory parts or AMG/Brabus parts and maybe mess about with them like colour

Maybe lower the car, 40-50mm wheels , I thought of the first one or the TH Compomotive similar , not white with stickers I would not fit sizes above 17

No spoiler or skirts

Agreed, it's what mine had from the factory too.

Personally, I went with a C63 style grille. But mine is a "Sport" model so it has the AMG bodykit from factory and that grille just finishes off the look.

There are a few different OEM style grilles. Here's where I got mine from - I found the quality to be on par with the OEM grille I took off:

That wheel is one of the worst I have ever seen. Absolutely hideous.
And that particular one only has 4 holes, not the necessary 5.

You could see if slightly later door mirrors fit and work (I have no idea). IMHO they look a lot better than the ones you have.
