Hi all - as unbelievable as it sounds the missus was sticking her fingers in the camera cover at the same time as I was changing gear to move the car forward... the result is the cover is now permanently down and I have spent the afternoon arguing :) The camera still works fine, goes up and down as required but cover is ineffective when camera is up (ie most of the time). Has anyone ever had similar problems and knows how to fix? a trip to the dealer will cost me and missus won't pay :-(

Thank you. I have seen the video and the model is exactly the same but in my case the cover is now out of the tracks on the side of the camera that lift it up and down. Both the tracks and the cover are intact. I need to find a way of putting the cover back in the tracks if that makes sense..

I would suggest heating the area up with a hairdrier before attempting to prise it back into the runners as the plastic will be easier to manipulate when warm..it might crack if cold...don't if that helps...Good Luck with it

So I’ve been googling this very issue. I’ve just purchased a c class and it has your issue. I’ve discovered for me the rails on the camera which the cover slides within are broken. You can get it to seat back on the rails of someone holds the cover closed with light pressure while you put the camera down in the menus.

But it will happen again when it’s closer. The video above shows the rails being a lot longer than on mine. You can visibly see snapped rails on the camera.

I’m trying to work out how I can re extend the rails so the camera cover seats. I had thought of a 3D printer collar that I glue over the camera lense outer.
