My dealer mentioned that my rotors have some high spots causing brake pulsation. The original rotors are very expensive and almost look like they are 2 piece since the center hub is a different metal composition than the rotors. Are they 2 piece or just a combination of 2 different metals. Is this to save weight. My question is since I don't put a lot of miles on my car (5k/year). I see some complete kits with rotors and pads for a lot less than oem. They aren't 2 piece or dissimilar metals so I assume it will add a little unsprung weight. I like them because they are drilled and slotted. Can I use these kits without any detrimental effect on my car. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

The disks (rotors) are one piece. if hour disks are warped get them skimmed if there is alot of metal left on them.

Shop around motor parts stores for other brands. We have plenty here in the uk. I replaced my fronts with brembo parts £130. Rotors and pads.

Are your original discs drilled?
I had some brake pulsating start on mine, I noticed the holes were all filled with material and blasted them clean with a pressure washer. Brakes are not pulsating anymore!

My rotors are not drilled but have some high spots. What is so special about the center hub on the rotors than requires that you don't handle the rotors by the center hub or hat. Are they made of a special material. If found that powerstop makes a complete set for a little over $400. Can they be used.

One concern of using no MB rotors is that they weigh 3 times that of a regular MB rotor. Will the added unsprung weight cause any handling changes or extea suspension wear?

Just get genuine MB parts. With the MBO discount ... they’re quite a lot cheaper than other parts (plus 2yr warranty)

MBO discounts don't apply in the US....

Bimmerland, I don't know where you've heard third party discs weigh three times as much as original ones? Sod all difference as far as I'm aware!
