W208 CLK320 ventilation problem

Hi,

The aircon on my CLK is playing up - drivers side seems not to be cooling. Passenger vents are cool but drivers side are ambient. Fan is blowing equally on both sides. Any ideas?

I would have thought that if it's the duovalve the air would be very hot, not just ambient. They seem to usually fail in the open position which means full heat to the coil. But there again, I may be incorrect.

Well in this weather, ambient is hot :)

Malc, you're the best! Can you tell me where to find it in the car and how to sort it out? Can it be repaired?

Some folk take them apart and clean them,, there is a DIY for the 210 in the DIY section and the valve is the same as yours, I would have said that just cleaning up the solenoids would work as it has not failed completely. its 115 in the picture

Presumably there is nothing going through it but air so it does not need to be clamped off before removing?

This is the valve that changes the water over from hot to cold, they all fail normally in the hot mode, if it is the valve then it is sticking and cannot close off the hot water

Coming back to what Oarsman wrote, I am only getting ambient rather than really hot air - still likely to be the duo valve?

If one side is not good and the other side is OK then there is little else unless the control box is putting out the wrong information,,where do you start, this is always a problem

Read the DIY guide - really useful but question remains do the hoses need to be clamped before opening the valve?

ok - stripped the duo valve - all looked clean inside. Both coils measuring 22 ohms so coils seem to be good also.

Problem still there but cooling on passengers side seems to be getting weaker. Any other suggestions?
