W208 CLK55 Gearbox Oil

Hi All

I seem to remember reading that although the Gearbox was "sealed for life", it is now recommended that the oil is changed.

If this is the case, does anyone know at what mileage intervals this should be done and also what the oil specification is ?

Every 40 k miles and spec 236.14 now though when your car was built it was running on 236.6.

I have two of these, a 2000 (69k) and a 2001 (100k), so I'd best have them both changed then ! Oh the joys !

If you can do remove the oil pan (Take care when replacing screws as very low torque) buy a new filter. Neither of those will have a converter drain plug, so about 4 liters should drain out. replace sump and drain plug and pour 3½ litres in, start up and stop when engine at 80c, drain again and fill to correct mark with roughly 3½ litres, this will give about a 85% fluid change.
