So, is there a Diff Breather fitted? Getting the plate off looks like a big job any one know?
Thanks in advance for any help offered

Cheers

Hi Ted!

The breather is at the top of the diff on the back plate. on most models it is possible to change without diff removal but it is awkward.

Hi Ted!

The breather is at the top of the diff on the back plate. on most models it is possible to change without diff removal but it is awkward.

I changed the diff breather out last week. Had to cut down an open ended spanner to do the job. Once I had the old one removed I discovered that it could no longer be called a 'breather' as such. It was more like a plug that just looked like a breather. I guess it had been there for the last 9+ years since the car was made. I cleaned it, but the results were poor so I fitted a new one.

The back of the car was up on ramps, so nowhere near level. Then checked both diff filler and drain plugs were free (14mm Allen Key) and re-tightened them and put the car back down on the deck.

I then took the car to a local garage to drain and refill the diff oil on a (level) car lift) and also check the headlamp alignment prior to it's next annual road test which is due soon. They charged me 10 Euros for the work. (I supplied the EP 80/90).
