hi
the pixels in my clk320 instrument cluster have started to go haywire. i have done the little trick reference packing the back out to make a better contact and it sorted alot of them out but not completely.
if i were to get a second hand cluster from a breakers and fit this would it mess anything else up.
thank you for the advice

Years ago I had a BMW with virtually nothing working on the dash panel. After dismantling it the cause was dry solder joints on the inside of where the wiring plug(s) went in. Simply re-melting the existing solder at each wire point solved it. Maybe worth a try as it sounds like you varied your symptoms by adjusting your wiring alignment.

I believe you have to get the cluster coded to the car and certainly will need the mileage carried over. All pretty simple stuff, assuming you can get a second hand cluster. Given the costs involved, it's probably not much different to having your own cluster fixed.

Correct, the info in the old unit has to be extracted into STAR and put back into the new unit.

A secondhand one could go the same way.

There are firms that fix them for £150 but why not re-do the packing.
