Has anyone else had this?

I had my CLK serviced because service B was due. I had it done at Kwik fit due to availability at the time. I'd just bought the car and it needed doing.

They couldn't reset the due notification so I had to go back when their travelling specialist was around. He reset it.

But then a couple.of weeks ago I hadn't started it for a while. I tried and it wouldn't. The battery had drained.

I got it started with the help of a neighbour who had a battery booster. Battery has been fine since. Just starting it up every few days.

Anyway once the car was started up, there were a lot of fault codes. But also the Service B is due notification came back. I took it back to Kwik fit who tried to reset it again but again, failed.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Yes, never ever ever go to kwik fit for a service...

If they can't even reset a service indicator (information freely available on youtube and the interweb) then how can they possibly know how to service it.

I hope all you wanted was the oil filter wiped with a rag and the service book stamped... as that's about what you've received...

I won’t say never go to Kwik fit , I’m sure someone else will want to say that .
MB’s throw up all sorts of problems will low voltage .
Do you have a trickle Charger ?
How old is the battery and what charge is it providing ? On my CLK if I press the dash reset button 3 times with the key in position 1 , before starting the engine it will show battery voltage .

Reset for a service will reset both but depending on mileage you may get other components require service which will give issues. I doubt that Kwik Fit will have done those.
Best to find an independent MB service specialist.

On my 2011 W212 E350 CDI, after first lockdown and flat battery, I've had the same thing, except I can't remember the service number that was showing. Mileage and time were well below the next oil/filter type service. The car had done zero miles, so it wasn't a mileage indicator. I put another 700 miles on it over the next few months then booked in at PCS for brake fluid, transmission service, A Service and MOT, and asked them to have a general look over the car and see if they knew why this came up. They couldn't find anything. Service indicator reset. A month and a half later it all seems okay, but I did replace the original Merc 9 year old battery in Dec and I now charge the battery every couple of weeks if I don't drive it much.

I really just wanted an oil change to be honest. And because I wanted it immediately, I didn't have much choice. Lesson learnt though. Haven't yet found a decent German specialist in my area but I've been given some companies to contact

I'll have a go at that and check. Thanks.

No trickle charging. I'd just left it stood for 2-3 weeks. Left the ODB 2 Bluetooth on and the alarm. Went to start it up and the clock started running backwards

I'm not sure. It was the B service I had done and it's B again just 3 months later.

Could you please elaborate on that?

you need to drive a considerable distance for the alternator to put back in the battery what the starter took out of it to start it in the first place. And your car needs to get properly hot to evaporate condensation in the engine/oil & water in the exhaust (watch how much water pours from some cars when they're cold). Buy a CTek (similar) leave your car's battery on trickle charge. ;)

Used to be 1/2 hour of running to put back a start.

I last started & used my 212 in September, & I won't be using it until May its garaged. We are both retired & we use my wife's SLC for local trips.
I charge the battery every other week, if you have a charger conditioner you could leave connected permanently.
