w209 nearside front foglamp issue

My CLK430 nearside foglamp has decided to stop working though its bulb is actually fine. Gaining access to its housing is somewhat difficult but I've read this may be a well documented problem so I will await responses to this query before doing anything.

I changed the foglight on my 2004 270CDI CLK. Wish my memory was better.

I know you park the car with full lock on in order to access a panel in the front wheelarch. The fixings tend to spin/twist.....a little tricky.

The access is through this panel.....again a little tricky and long slim fingers are best.
