My CLK has come back from the bodyshop and looks pretty good.

Because they've changed to door as part of the repair, they've taken the trim off the old door and put it on the new one. The cover for the speaker behind the mirror doesn't fit as snugly as it should.

Other than buying a new one, any ideas on how I might be able to tighten it up?

As far as I can tell from the instructions I got sent by Malcolm (thanks again), the door trim is OK.

The problem seems to be that the catch which projects from the centre of the speaker cover is not locking into the plastic hole in the wing mirror panel. It's either worn or the plastic hole is too far back for the locking bits to engage.

Does anyone have a photo of a new one so I can compare / contrast?

I don't really want to remove the one from the driver side door in case I bugger that one up.

Cheers.

If the end is not broken off of the pin on the speaker cover, then is there not a clip that should be in the hole, often when taking these things off the clip falls down in the door

The clip is in the hole. Well, I assume it's a clip - it's a white plastic insert which is "0" shaped.

I think the 'pin' may be worn or broken.

It is possible to remove the clip and tighten the claws in the case of a worn pin

Tried that and the clip fell into the door.........

I'll order a new one but until then, I have a quick fix in place (actually seems to be going rather well but time will tell).
