My E Class (71,000 miles) had an A service last week. The main fuel filter was changed and filled with an injector cleaner - performance was restored to brisk and smooth acceleration.I did about 60 miles with no problems at all.

I had also asked the garage to renew the pre-filter but had to go back on Sat.morning for that to be done while I waited. Today, having done only 10 or so miles after the pre-filter was fitted, the malfunction message appeared - Engine Electronics EPC. I see from previous threads that this is not unusual. The car ran on "governed" low speed sufficient to get me home. On turning of the engine and removing the key, it ran on for a few seconds and revved up before stopping. This has never happened in the 4 years/50,000 miles I have had the car.

It looks like an air leak was created when the pre-filter was fitted. It would seem a remarkable coincidence if any component in the injection system has failed. Any advice before I take it back in tomorrow ?

It must be something that they have done, and sounds like a fuel related fault.
