Hi, just joined. Thanks everyone for your invaluable inputs.

My car has mind of its own since last week. Everytime I lock thru fob key, after a while - 5-10 minutes, alarm goes off - luckly no sound just flashing amber and also interior lights come on except the fromt main cursey light. On lock press by fob key, then all seems ok again.

The front lights haven't been working for a while but the reading and rear (passengers) are ok.

Just wondering if anyone had similar experience before or if lights are the culprits to this problem. Is there away to disable or cure all together.

Any feedback is appreciated. Its a V reg - E240 (1999)

Check all your door pins by the locks on the pillers, one may have broken and been pushed in, causing the car to think a door is open.

Agreed - (but then I would - he's the expert)
Anyway -
They looked ok but I had door pin switch issues on my 210. You say the interior lights come on, but not the front. Like it thinks someone has opened a back door perhaps? I would disconnect the rear pin switches and see if that sorts it.
On mine it would unlock the doors and put the light on when I went round a roundabout, but then mine was a front one. Rears may behave as you describe.

Hi,
I agree with both what Elsy and jberks have said but just something else to bare in mind is your alarm siren does,nt appear to be working, when this happened to my C class (same type of alarm) this also caused many false alarms, and maybe a contributory factor.

The sirens can get water in them and as Andy says they can trigger the alarm

Many thanx guys. I will have a look at it this friday and post feedback. Had a look at the door pins though and they all seem ok-none broken.

You can also check the security of the the bonnet switch which will be clipped onto the bottom of one of the catches on the slam pannel. If you elimant all off theses switches then as malcolm says it could be a water damaged siren.

mine looked perfect too (and the car was 12 months old at the time). Not sure what the back of the switch looks like but there must be a design issue somewhere as issues like this aren't uncommon. I find merc door switches to be more sensitive than most so maybe tolerances are tighter.

Hello everyone. The flippin alarm lights is fixed. After diagnosis, it pointed on on a door pin and they replaced it - nearside. And that curred it.

Many thanks and Merry Xmas everyone.

God bless
