I have searched the Forum and seen many threads regarding various problems with the digital dash affecting various models, but I could not find one on my precise problem (sorry if I missed one!):

The digital temp gauge on the dash, bottom left, is not lighting up. I can see the actual gauge is working, as I can read the temp if the light shines into the car from the right direction! So it suggests it is just an illumination bulb issue??

I have seen the thread in the DIY section for removing the dash (fantastic, thanks), although I hasten to add I will NOT be attempting the job!

Can my local garage, who will be doing the work, get a replacement bulb for the display? Or is it a case of "Sorry sir, that will be £1000+ for a new dash"!?!? Assuming I am being unfair to MB, how long approx is the job (so I can consider cost justification)? I can, after all, live without knowing the temp outside!.

Many thanks!

I dont know your model, but I can confirm that I can pull my dash out in abourt 2 mins total, it really is easy with just 2 sets of multyplugs at the back to undo once you have the dash forward

Thanks Mark for taking the time 'to post'. I am based more in Glos than London (and I have just changed my location in "About Me"), but I do get to London fairly regularly - along the M40/A40 into Hammersmith. Why?

I am not sure but you may have to take steering wheel off before pulling cluster out, but this is only one bolt easy peasy.Hope this helps

Don't you have to take the airbag out first?

Thanks for the thought, Mark - and for the other posts.

People pay me to do my job for them. I am more than happy to pay someone to do this job for me! I'd be bound to mess it up! Thanks everyone!

No you don't need to remove the wheel on a 210 - even if it doesn't have an adjustable wheel there is enough clearance to remove the cluster.

If you did, many of us would shy away due to the airbag.
