Hi all,

This morning I noticed that the right side of my bonnet seemed to be moving a bit, especially when I hit about 70MPH on the M1.

I pulled over and pushed down on that side, thinking that I didn't close it properly. It seems that it either isn't catching or the mechanism for holding in down on that side isn't working properly.

I tested the clasp itself with the bonnet open, and it seems to be ok.

Is there any way to adust the height of either the clasp mechanism or the hook that it catches on the bonnet itself?

Thanks!

Thanks for that... would WD40 suffice?

I'll have a look at those rubber buffers.

WD 40 is not a lubricant, but could be a short term fix

As earlier I will turn on the other computer and find more info for you this evening,,its too hot right now

To check if that side is locking close the bonnet down without locking it then press on the offending side until you hear a click, now try and lift that side, if working it should hold, the other side should be still unlocked, it may just need adjusting or oiling as malcolm suggests.. most likely oiling as locks seldom move once set..

Hi all,

I checked the bonnet again before I drove home, I tried pushing down on the right side and a light "click" was heard, but it didn't seem to hold.

I once again released the bonnet, but this time I pushed the release lever back into it's normal position. This seemed to do the trick, when I closed the bonnet both sides latched close!

Hi. I noticed you helped another person back in 2005 with a w210 bonnet problem. You mention that you had a paper to send but needed an email address. I have a similar problem as my bonnet wont close shut. It will press down to the correct position but just springs back up again.

Can you give any help at all?

Thanks. Gary
