Hi All,

I am considering the purchase of a W210 E230 or E240...

Which one would be the better one to buy? :p

How do the two compare if you look at economy and performance?

Anything that I should look out for on these models? Would I be able to do the maintenance of this vehicle by myself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kind Regards,

Rust is the largest issue to look for on the 210's...:-(
230 is a 4 cylinder, 240 is a V6. Economy will probably be about the same for both of them. I did see a really nice E240 in North Wales last week, for a 210 it had almost all the options, Comand, sunroof, heated seats, parktronic.
I've read a lot of this forum and do note that there does appear to be a lot more issues posted here with the 240 engine than with the 230. That of course could be that there are more 240 owners on here.

As blobcat, the issues are strange more to do with coil packs breaking down on the 240 but its odd that they do not on other cars that use the same engine

I think you'll find that most people go for the six cylinder over the four as it's normally a smoother runner.

I do occasionally miss my old straight six powered E320, much smoother than my current V8 E430. Well I miss it until I hoof it :)
