w210 e240 spark plug socket size?

morning, I was planning to change the spark plugs in a 99 e240 v6 today but have no idea what size socket is needed? Im sure I have tried everyone in my box!

Most socket sets have a dedicated spark plug socket. This is generally longer than the others to clear the spark plug top and often has a rubber insert to protect the spark plug.

normally 14mm ?--but take care doing this as the plugs are so hard to get at its no easy job !

Do not forget to lever the caps off with a cranked open ended 17mm spanner over the top of the engine to avoid damage to the coil packs

socket size is 16mm, or more accurately 5/8" :shock: as with wheel rim sizes, much of the world has stuck with imperial spark plug sizes, however 16mm is practically the same size and the two are interchangeable.

thanks chaps, I called mercedes this morning & they confirmed its 16mm although my 16mm wont get them out! maybe a need a thinner wall.
