Just purchased in Malaysia a W210 1999 imported from UK. Mileage 37,000.
What is t he recommended mileage for timing chain renewal?
Car has Owners manuals but no service information

Don?t think you need to worry about replacing the chains they should be good for roughly 150,000-200,000 mls, always do regular oil changes with a good oil. Hope this puts your mind at rest

I've a 2000 E240, 45k - not had anything other than the oil changed under regular maintenance. Other bits done as they failed - air mass sensor, plug leads etc but these are as required items rather than scheduled replacement. The drive belts etc are all as fitted in the factory. The plugs are good for >60k, gearbox oil good for 100k allegedly. Not sure of the air filter lifespan though.
Just make sure you use a good synthetic oil, read the E class rust thread and check yours over where discussed. Other than that, just enjoy it!

Interesting timing. FYI Just had a call from the Garage - Mine is in for it's B service. Apparently the coolant (£37) and brake fluid (£40) are due for replacement (fair enough and probably worth doing) plus the air and fuel filter (£121 for 2 bits of paper !). They also recommended new plugs (£220) but as it's only done 45k I refused this one.- Its runs sweet and i've spent enough for now.
I thought the plugs were mileage based, not time ?

Thank you
Thread on rust horrifies me. Inspected and thankfully cant see anything - yet. Repacement parts costs also horrify me. MB are CKD assembled here - not mine - and it will be interesting to see what they charge.
Most local owners use non MB garages. My local looks after my Mitsubishi Pajero, MGB GT, Nash Metropolitan and VW Transporter Caravan.
VW has done 250,000KM with very little maintenance apart from routine oil water etc etc, Twice round the world. 0verall maintenance costs probably no more than your 45K routine service.
Again, many thanks and any other info always welcomed.
Regards
