Hi ladies & gents

Still having problems trying to fit an after market head unit, i.e when you connect the plugs the unit doesnt power up . Anyway after a couple of so called experts had a look and couldnt work it out i studied the ends of the mercedes iso plugs and i found that they are in a different arrangement to the new head units leads( THE EXPERTS SAID THEY WERE THE SAME ). Also the wires on the merc are a different colour . So i wondered if anybody knew what wires and colours are what on the merc so i can pull the leads out the head units iso lead and match them with the cars plug . Please save me from the boreDOOOOOM of my own singing :p

Can you get an adaptor lead to go from Mercedes to 'standard' wiring? Autoleads make such adaptors..

Or... Use a voltmeter to check which wires are the perm live and ign live on the cars plug, and swap the wires about on the stereo plug? Speakers should be fairly self evident.

Don't know what was wrong with your original stereo but if it wasn't working I got mine fixed for £35 by an electronics engineer after looking at the wiring.

New head unit's in and working YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!:D Now have tunes and can phone people up with it . Thanks for the advice guys . Turns out the problem was that mercs have some strange ignition circuit or something and they dont like aftermarket radios "GOOD ONES LOL:D" and the iso pins were different formation . Took a feed from a old phone kit feed found hidden in the dash and it sprung into life  . A wise old guy fitted it for 20 quid in 10 mins lol .He said if id a had a becker system then i would have had even more grief. The old audio 10 unit is now due to be thrown from the nearest clifftop .
