Hello all:

I searched the forum and was unable to locate a discussion specific to my model.

My rear window demister is inoperative.

The 40a fuse under the rear seat is good and the light comes on when the function is selected.

I understand there is a relay involved. Any help as to where this relay is located and maybe a testing procedue is appreciated.

Thank You,

Hi,
I had the same fault on my previous car and it was the connection on the rear screen, it had snapped off, to repair it would mean a new screen.
Check yours are ok and check theres 12v to the screen with the switch on first. If no volts then look for the relay.
Not sure where the relays are on your model but try the Boot, Passenger side footwell and there are some in fuse box.
Hope this is of some help,

You do need a volt meter to check as bigasotonuk, the terminals are normally on the near side of the glass and you have to remove or lift the trim on C pillar to get to the spades. if you do not have 12 volt on the spades or fuse, come back and I can guide you further.

Malcom, Thank you for your quick reply.
If I may ask, how does one remove the C pillar trim.
Also, sorry but I am not sure if that is the left or right side. Which side is the C pillar if seated in the drivers seat.

Thank You,
Ron

Hello again Malcom:

I went out and the C pillar trim pieces simply pull off. The wires and spade lugs are intact on the window.
Tomorrow (when it is light out) I will check for 12v with my DVM and report back.

Thanks again,
Ron Y

Hello Andy and Malcom:

I popped the trim panels this morning and there is indeed 14 volts at the connections to start and it drops to 12 volts after a bit.

The voltage is also present up and down the side traces on the window.

This car is new to me and I wonder if I am simply used to demisters that warm up siginifacantly and are obvious in that the ice/snow is melting along the traces.

I cannot see any defects in the traces so I may be in error thinking that it is not working.

Any insights?

Thank You,

Pleased that you have got there, the fact that the voltage is dropping shows that it is working, keep your eyes on the glass and you should see working, if all of the wires show a demisted area then they all work. Good Luck.
