Hi folks my first post on here looking for help/advice.

Just bought a 2000 e320cdi avantgarde 228k
Full service history
Bought it as a running project as it needs some welding although still has 6mnth mot and it drove great for the fist 4 days of owning it then i parked it outside the house when back a while later to move it and it wont start just cranks over wont fire up.

Previous to this on the way home i put my foot flat down to overtake and it accelerated as it should then there was a slight loss in power and i think EDC flashed up on dash took my foot off accelerator then it was fine again then i parked it up went to move it and hasn't started since just turns over.

Ive checked all fuses and had a look for anything obvious but all seems fine.

I was thinking cps might be gone but unsure yet.

I also checked fuel filter was a little dirty and was less than halve full of fuel not sure if it should be full?

Anyone point me in right direction.

Air bubbles in low pressure fuel lines? Excessive tank line leak of injectors?

It would have been EPC that flashed up. Check for fuel leaks, as said you may have bubbles (air) in the fuel system. This is a common issue so check the clear fuel lines. If they are dark brown, they become brittle and leak. The HP fuel pump on the front of the engine could also have a leak in which case you can replace the O rings

Check stored codes, there will be some, pointless guessing.

The 38 pin to 16 pin adaptors don't always work so be prepared if you don't get it to read

Update-

Got the car running but will only start with a squirt of easy start then runs perfect so pretty sure its taking air in.

Changed the o rings on the clear plastic fuel lines but still the same so will replace the fuel lines next as they look old and 3 of the plastic clips broke as they were brittle.

Got an adapter cable for my code reader but it doesn't work on this car unfortunately.

Hopefully the new fuel lines, will solve the problem if not they needed replaced anyway and i, ll have peace of mind there new.
